Wouldn’t we all like to be a little more creative? Whether through a specific medium like art or writing, or just in your thoughts, making time for little creativity forms a well-rounded individual with a strong sense of self. Here are a few suggestions to make room for a bit of creativity in your life:
Don’t Hold Back
So often, we believe we lack creativity before we even try. The first step is to stop holding yourself back! Know that you have something to offer creatively, even if you never share it with another soul.
Get Out of Your Comfort Zone
To spark creativity, step out of your comfort zone, and try something new. Getting stuck in a routine and never looking outside of that is the quickest way to kill creativity. Find ways to switch things up regularly. It may be as simple as trying a new coffee shop, or something as involved as signing up for a class to learn an unfamiliar discipline.
Reduce Your Stress Levels
Reducing your stress level can benefit you in all sorts of ways, including helping you be more creative. Generally speaking, creativity is not likely to thrive in a high-stress environment. So reduce your stress level before you try and do something creative.
Pick Up a Hobby
Pick up a new hobby when you want to spark a little creativity in your life. There are plenty of possibilities: pottery, painting, horseback riding, exercise, collecting, hiking… the list goes on. The hobby itself can serve as an excellent outlet for your creativity, or it may just encourage creativity in some other part of your life.
Persevere
Remember: it might take time to rev up your creativity. Stick to your efforts to add a little creativity to your life, because it might not happen instantaneously.
